Individuals attend training three days a week, for four hours per day over 10 months. This non-credit program is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Individuals who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to earn NCCER Welding Certification. This portable, 3rd party validated industry credential is recognized by employers across the nation.

If you're ready for a hands-on career in a growing field, Welding@SVHEC is here for you. In less than one year, we'll prepare you to be a work-ready welder. Financial assistance is available.

About the Program

Welding@SVHEC is presented in sequenced modules and takes on average 10 months to complete. After completing each level of training, including CORE and Levels 1-3, trainees receive industry recognized certification. Upon completion of all training, trainees possess the knowledge and skills required for designation as an NCCER Certified Welder.

Welding training takes place in the welding lab and classrooms located on the campus of the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (South Boston, VA). After completing the introductory safety courses, students spend about 80% of instructional time in the lab. Welding@SVHEC is a hands-on learning experience.
