Microsoft Corporation continued its investment in the SVHEC with a $200,000 donation to support an expansion of the SVHEC’s IT Academy.

There’s still time to enroll in the Mechatronics Siemens Level 1, Mechatronics Siemens Level 2, or Welding training programs at the SVHEC. Classes begin August 2019; financial assistance is available.

Starting Fall 2020, Longwood University will offer a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education at the SVHEC.

The Commonwealth’s Transportation Board has approved funding for the SoVA Image of a new Danville Transit bus to be used for the new bus service from South Boston to Danville.Regional Transportation Project’s demonstration grant. With this funding, new bus service in Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties could start this fall.
