The SVHEC's Career Tech Academy (CTA) recently held its first completion ceremony. Thirty-one students earning 65 industry recognized credentials and 26 Career Studies Certificates were recognized.
The Career Tech Academy is a hands-on, dual enrollment training programs for juniors and seniors at Randolph-Henry High School (Charlotte County), Halifax County High School, and Bluestone High School (Mecklenburg County). Students attend classes at the SVHEC five days a week for hands-on training in Information Technology (IT) or Mechatronics.
During the year-long program, students earn in-demand skills, industry recognized credentials, and college credits from Southside Virginia Community College. Real world labs, soft skills training, and employer engagement ensure students are prepared to pursue advanced training or enter the workforce after completing the Career Tech Academy.
