Welding

Welding is a growing field – in Southern Virginia and beyond. If you’re ready for a hands-on career, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is ready for you. Welding@SVHEC is a short-term, accredited training program providing students with instruction in MIG, TIG, Stick, and Pipe welding. In less than one year, we’ll prepare you to be a work-ready welder. This training program is accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) and also prepares you to test for American Welding Society credentials in SVHEC’s AWS Accredited Test Facility. These 3rd party-validated industry credentials are recognized by employers across the nation, and will demonstrate to employers that you have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the job. Financial assistance for training is available.

Firing Up a Welding Career

“The last few days of class a company came in and interviewed those of us interested in getting a job. Two hours after they left, they called and offered me a job. I would have never had this opportunity if it hadn’t been for this welding program.”
